Prayer of the Heart

WEEKLY REFLECTION I June 1, 2025 – Seventh Sunday of Easter

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

ALLELUIA! Christ is risen. Yes, this is the last Sunday of Easter season. No more Easter jokes. No more foreign language greetings to start sermons.

But this is most certainly not the end of celebrating! Because hard on Easter seven, come the great feasts of Pentecost and Trinity. We’ll be substituting our Easter jokes with quick costume changes (thank you thank you, Altar Guild!): white, red, white. Reminder to wear your fieriest colors on June 8 as we rejoice in the coming of the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, the Spirit of Wisdom and Truth.

A word of compassion to you on behalf of the local food pantries. On Pentecost, we’ll be blessing the food for our monthly collection for Groceries Plus, and our quarterly collection for the Animal Food Bank. If you budget allows, please consider bringing in extra donations this month. The special needs are listed on the back of this letter. With cuts in benefits and an anxious economy, local pantries have less and less to give to people in need—who also are experiencing cuts in benefits. I can scarcely imagine a better day than Pentecost to bless food given for people and for their animals, some of which are the only family they have. As you are able, please increase the kindness in our world.

Praying daily with you, for our nation, our parish, and the world,

Mo. Laura
