Church Announcements

WEEKLY REFLECTION I February 23, 2025 – Epiphany 7C

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In the fall, like most churches, St. Margaret’s has a Stewardship program, encouraging people to support the church, of course, but also encouraging us to remember that Stewardship is a year-round topic. More than being about money, or even time and talent, Stewardship is about recognizing that everything we have and everything we are come from God. Truthfully, when we open our wallets and take out a bill, we are taking out money that comes from God. When we undertake an act of charity, our minds and bodies come from God, so it is God’s person doing something kind for another one of God’s persons.

Stewardship is about caring for God’s gifts in ways that are guided by our faith. Or, as Connie Allport wrote last fall, being “loving agents of the Lord in this world.” Easy to think about, easy to say. But life can get complicated, and when it comes to finances even more so. (Whatever happened to putting our money under the mattress? Or in the freezer—cold cash?) So to help us out of the complexity in at least one way, our treasurer, Andy Werner, and parishioner Dave Leber, also a finance expert, have written an overview of things you might want to know for Stewardship and personal planning.. Both Andy and Dave are glad to answer any
questions that come to mind.

Blessings,
Mo. Laura
