St. Margaret's Episcopal Church

WEEKLY REFLECTION I August 15, 2026 – Proper 15A

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Hard to believe it is already mid-August and people are starting to talk about going back to school. With all the teachers and other kinds of educators at St. Margaret’s, we’re thinking about it, too! The BEST thing about back-to-school as far as I was concerned was always getting new books. So here’s your chance to get that new year feeling. With GENESIS The Beginning. Our fall book group is not only starting a book that is new to us, it was only published 10 days ago. Professor Amy-Jill Levine’s new book is on Genesis, and we’ve been looking forward to it since early last spring. In addition to the book study, there will also be videos of AJ talking about the topic of the week, and time to share prayer concerns. It’s always a great time.

One of our group members discovered an online recommendation by AJ that you might want to get your book directly from the publisher, Cokesbury, because it’s so new bookstores haven’t received it yet. If you use the code AUGSHIP , shipping will be free and there is a discount: https://www.cokesbury.com/Genesis-7? refq=Levine%20Genesis. The book is generally available as an e-book, however. The flyer is on the back of this page. PLEASE share with folks. It will be a great group!

See you on Sunday!
