The Rose of Sharon which is blooming in St. Margaret’s Memorial Garden has a legend behind it. When Joseph of Arimathea arrived in Glastonbury he climbed a hill to survey the countryside. He thrust into the ground his staff made from the “Holy Crown of Thorns” worn by Christ.
The staff immediately took root and from it grew the Rose of Sharon. The Rose of Sharon symbolizes beauty and Christ.
