Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Happy New Year! Merry 10th Day of Chr1stmas! Sunday we will celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany and the Baptism of Jesus. All these things mean, that it is January. You remember January, right? The month with all the snow and wind? BRRRR! Well, at least in the past. There is always plenty of wind, but very little snow in the last two years. Things might be about to change this weekend, though. Or maybe not. Despite what the media seems to be hinting about an upcoming HUGE STORM, the meteorologists are saying that they won’t be able to predict anything till sometime Thursday. And maybe not then. It might snow. Or it might slush. Or it might rain. Who knows?
However, in the event that there is significant snowfall, we will not be gathering in person on Sunday. Instead, we will have our service on zoom. It is prudent to have plans, so if the weather is good, we’ll meet in person for Lessons and Carols. If not, we will have a regular service online, with Dodd providing the music. It just won’t work for us to try to sing 6 or 7 carols at home. My vote is for rain and then snow late Sunday afternoon so we can have everything. Liturgical greediness.
Please consult the “When weather threatens” page I sent you a few weeks ago. Whatever we decide will be posted on St. Margaret’s Facebook page, on the website and in an email. If we move to zoom, I will also post that on WFMZ. I am sending this week’s letter to you via email, to be sure that you get it promptly, given the postal service’s recent delays.
Now for a few more pieces of news: Vestry is already working on this year’s budget. If you intend to submit a pledge, could you please do it soon? It’s certainly not required and is, in any case, just an estimated intention of giving, but it will help in their planning. Thank you so much to all of you who have already done so!
The Wellness Committee will brighten up the gray days of January with a Souper Potluck on Friday, January 26 at 6:00 p.m. Please see the attached poster. Invite your friends and pull out some fun recipes from your cookbooks.
Annual Meeting will be held on February 4 at 11:00 (following coffee hour). It will be both in person (weather permitting) and via zoom. If you are the chair of a committee, we need your 2023 report by January 15 so we have time to format it into the overall report.
See you—one way or the other—on Sunday!
JOY!
